2012 New Year's Resolution

The lure of a new beginning seems to reignite hopes and dreams that have been tucked in a little forgotten corner.  Every year, I sit myself down and write up a list of things I wish to achieve in that particular year.  Last year, it involved 'learn horse riding'.  Nope, that did not happen.  Neither did I 'finish reading Mahatma Gandhi's biography'.

Despite that, I still fall into the trap of making new year's resolutions this year.  But I have learned my lessons.  This year, there will be no list.

My only new year's resolution for 2012 is 'to find something to be grateful for, each and everyday.'

As we grow up, we realise that things do not always go our way and hardly anything is as absolute as white and black.  There will be ups and downs, joy and sadness, hope and disappointment, and many more 'in-betweens' than the extreme.  That is life.  But you know what? I sincerely believe that there is always something to be grateful for.. even & especially for 'tough times' as suffering is growth.

I love the saying, 'life can only be understood backwards, but it must be lived forwards.'  Things happen for a reason.  Even though I may not understand it as it unfolds, I am learning to trust that it will all make sense.
